A record 112 million Americans — 35% of those ages 3 and older — rode a bike at least once in 2024. Youth ridership saw the biggest surge, reversing a steady decline since 2018.

Did you know that National Bicycle Month was established in 1956? The League of American Bicyclists established May as National Bicycle Month as a way to encourage people to go ride a bicycle. There are several events occurring in the month of May. National Ride a Bicycle Day is Sunday, May 4 but you can ride any day, any time.
