Commuters by bike or car will be cheering as this bridge over Hudson Run road is finally scheduled to reopen on Friday morning.
The bridge in question is on Cleveland-Massillon Road/31st Street.
The Local News Section of the Akron Beacon Journal reports the Summit County Engineer’s office said the new bridge, which has an additional lane and a sidewalk, will accommodate plans to widen the street in 2014 or 2015.
I included the word finally in my information as this major thoroughfare between Wooster Road in Barberton and Norton Avenue in Norton has been closed since Aug. 13.
Federal funding covered almost $700,000 of the $870,000 project, the engineer’s office said.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on the bridge at 11 a.m. Friday.
