The fastest growing winter sport….

by Ruth Kaser for Shop News

is snowshoeing! You may wonder, what equipment would I need to snowshoe? You will need a pair of snowshoes, and maybe a pair of treking poles. Treking poles will give you a little more balance, a better upper body workout, and a little extra push to get up and down hills.

You purchase your snowshoe size by your weight  including your outer-gear. We stock the Conquest and the Hike. The Conquest was Voted “Best Snowshoe Bargain” by Backpacker Magazine is rated for up to 175 lbs. The Hike is available in a variety of sizes, that allows for a purely natural and comfortable stride. We stock the following Hike models: model 22 up to 150 lbs, model 25 up to 175 lbs, model 30 up to 220 lbs and model 36 over 220 lbs.

Where can I snow shoe, you may ask? The answer: wherever you find at least 4 inches of snow. This could be your favorite hiking trail, your own backyard, or a golf course with the owners permission. We hope to see you soon at the shop so you too can get out and enjoy the snow, it is forecast today, tomorrow and Saturday.
