In general our area bicycle clubs start their schedule of group rides in April and May. Some clubs that stop riding when the snow flies will change over to hiking, skiing or snow shoeing until spring. Some people will ride year round-snow or not, warm or cold. The days we experienced our large snow gifts Don noted I was not the only one out and about on a bicycle. There were several riders to be found making their way around downtown Barberton on their bicycles.
Did you know there was a 2nd International Winter Cycling Congress held February 12 – 14, 2014, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada? The purpose of the event was to have professionals and delegates from snowy countries around the world gather to share their skills and knowledge. Attendees learned what it took to create, promote, maintain and sustain vibrant bike-friendly cities through out the year.
If today’s 10 degree temperatures is too bit brisk for you to take your bicycle out for a ride take heart- there are now 17 days until Spring.
