Riding in the rain

by Ruth Kaser for Cycling Articles

Don and I have a weekly business networking meeting we attend. The location is near so we generally ride to the meeting. The clouds seemed to be saying -ride this morning, I dare you-so we took the dare.

We just beat the thunderstorm and heavy downpour but did get wet. The purpose of sharing this news is also a reminder of a few safety tips to keep in mind if you get caught in the rain while riding:

  • It will take longer to stop so feather your brakes but allow for stopping on wet surfaces
  • If you ride with a headlight/tail light turn them on to flashing so you will be more visible to drivers
  • It’s only rain-towel off when you get to your destination.

Do you have any tips to add?
