We completed our rides for the Summit Metro Parks Biking Spree with a Sunday ride on the Freedom Trail. We rode the length of the completed Freedom Trail and took pictures of the progress of the construction of the next phase.
The plan is for the Freedom Trail to be connected to downtown Akron and to the TowPath Trail. To date it is completed to Eastwood Avenue, the construction is visible as you look beyond.
The Biking Spree began July 1 and runs through August 3. You receive rewards if you do 5 rides either on five different trails, the same trail or any combination of trails. First-time participants who complete five rides receive a bicycle license plate and reflective sticker. Veteran participants earn a sticker. As usual for the Sprees the rides are free for all participants. Non Summit County residents can also participate, however they will need to pay $5 to receive their rewards.
