Our ride along Edgewater Park/Drive on Sunday

by Ruth Kaser for Cycling Articles

I had read about the Lakefront Bikeway. Recently we tried riding the route from east to west but found Lakeshore Blvd was being repaved. So, when our family decided to gather at Edgewater Yacht Club for dinner, sailing and riding Don and I decided to investigate the route starting at Edgewater Park to Lakewood.
The thermometer read 90+ degrees so we decided on a short but sweet route that involved a lot of shade. We took the bike path through Edgewater park, powered our way up the big hill from the beach to leave the park and continue on Edgewater Drive. We rode along Edgewater Drive until it ended at Cove. The Lakefront Bikeway signs can be found along Edgewater Drive, along with magnificent homes, interesting artwork, and large shady trees. Then jog down one street south to Lake Ave. and take that through Lakewood. If you want to go further, you go across the Rocky River bridge and follow Lake Ave. through Rocky River and Bay Village. We stopped in Lakewood and turned around-ended up with about 8 miles.
