The Ohio Bicycling Street Smarts is a handy guide printed and distributed by ODOT’s Division of Statewide Planning and whose printing is made possible through Share the Road License Plate Fees. The Share the Road license plate is available from the Ohio BMV.
The guide has two parts: the first part contains excerpts of the Ohio Revised Code that pertains to bicycle law. The second part of the guide provides practical information of how to safely and legally ride your bicycle on public roads. The content of the second part of the guide was developed from materials available from the League of American Bicyclists, Oak Knoll School, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This guide is designed for riders old enough to use city streets for commuting, such as travel to and from work and/or to and from local amenities like the library or grocery store.
The Ohio Bicycling Street Smarts is available as PDF file on the ODOT website.
