The concerts began in June, the last Wednesday concert will be August 9th -with the return of the Chardon Polka Band. The Friday concerts will wind up on September 1. Tuesday evening concerts were added this summer- a 6 PM concert rotating through the other city parks.
The concert on Tuesday, August 1 will be held at Edgewood Park. Have you had a chance to check out Edgewood Park, it is a bike ride from R-D Bike Shop. Edgewood Park is one of the City of Barberton’s most widely used parks with approximately 10 acres of green space. The park is located on the West side of the city in a mostly residential area and is also close in location to the city’s new elementary school. This beautiful park boasts a pavilion with picnic tables, restrooms and electric, basketball courts, tennis courts, a playground, and a spray park. The park has two entrances by vehicle and is easily accessible by foot to area residents. There is one larger parking lot with approximately 20 parking spots, and another smaller lot with 10 parking spots.
The performer this Tuesday will be Steve Jochum.
Fridays theme is come to be entertained, and entertainment will be offered all over Downtown Barberton. Barberton Better Block will be on 2nd St NW from the Lake Anna YMCA and the Barberton Liedertafel up to Park Avenue. Come and enjoy live music on the street and at R-D Bike Shop. We will have the Smooth & Blue Jazz Trio perform. There will be food trucks, pop- up vendors, games, a free movie shown on the side of R-D Bike Shop. You will want to bring a lawn chair to relax and enjoy the fun. Friday’s Better Block is from 5-10 PM
It will also be the Forth Friday so you will want to head over the W. Tuscarawas Ave. The theme for July is Summertime Fun and there will be free activities, fun outside games, music, art and pop up vendors from 5 PM to 9 PM.
There will be a concert at the Lake Anna Gazebo at 7:00 PM: The Jersey Beat Band. The Jersey Beat Band is a Frankie Valli Tribute. Take a step back into the past listening and singing along to the sounds of one of the best vocal groups of its time…..Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
With all that is going to be offered next Friday what is the best way to get to Downtown-by Metro. Take METRO (Akron METRO Regional Transit Authority) to Barberton Better Block for free on July 28th or 29th! Simply show this flier or show a digital copy of this flier to the bus operator. This is good for your entire family. *not valid on METRO SCAT, NCX or call-A-Bus routes. Visit akronmetro.org or call 3300762.0341 to see what routes you can get you there.
Your free ticket on Metro next Friday, Saturday
Second choice would be to bicycle to town. There are bicycle racks all around downtown. We recommend you use a lock to lock your bicycle to the rack and as the events go to 10 pm use head lights and tail lights. Stop in the shop and we can discuss lights and locks that meet your needs.
You can also drive to the fun. The street will be open on 2nd Street NW, however you can also park at the lots across the street from the Lake Anna Y or at Block 9.
