Summit Metro Parks updated their website News Page this past week. Some items listed below remain unchanged but this may be your first read:
- Throughout the park district, drinking fountains are turned off until spring;
- Due to sewer work in Akron, the Towpath trail is rerouted between Memorial Parkway and the Mustill Store Trailhead, just north of downtown. The new route will be in effect for several years;
- The public meeting regarding a neighborhood connector that, upon Phase 3 construction, will allow users access to the Freedom Trail through Adams Park in Akron was held on January 8th. You can still view the plans and make comment. The link for the plans: Freedom Trail Adams Street plans, the link to the survey:Connector survey on Survey Monkey.com. Phases one and two of this trail are now complete allowing you to ride the Freedom Trail north to the Bike & Hike Trail, and south through Tallmadge Circle to Eastwood road. When Phase Three is complete the Freedom Trail will will connect with the Towpath Trail.
