We were contacted by the Autism Society of Greater Akron regarding their I Can Bike Camp. There will be a camp July 15-19th at the Auxiliary Gym of Copley High School. Volunteers are needed to help at the camp which teaches individuals of all different abilities how to ride a two-wheel bicycle without training wheels.
Campers attend the same 75 minute session for each of the 5 days and are assigned two volunteers that will work with them throughout the week. The volunteers walk/jog alongside their assigned camper to provide support and motivation.
Volunteers need to be:
- at least 16 years old,
- be able to walk/jog with short breaks during the 75 minute session
- be able to volunteer for the same 75 minute session for 5 days(preferred) but other schedules can be considered
- attend the volunteer orientation on Sunday, July 14 at 4pm at Copley High School
Community hours can be earned. Please contact Program Coordinator and Camp Director, Lisa Thompson at 330-940-1441 or firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer or for any additional questions.
