Breaking out from the same old, same old

by Ruth Kaser for NE Ohio Tidbits for Cyclers

Thanks to the connecting bridge at Robinson Ave.,R-D Bike Shop is about a half mile away from the TowPath trail. We often find ourselves asking should we ride north or south-meaning which direction should we travel along the trail. Often an event or destination suggests the direction.  An Akron Rubber Ducks game, means we ride north, ice cream in Canal Fulton means we ride south. For a change of pace and not much available ride time we may load up the bikes and travel to Rittman for a ride on the Rittman/Creston trail.

The arrival of the Summit Metro Parks Summer Biking Spree and then the Fall Hiking Spree causes us to break out the maps and either discover or re-discover new places to ride. We completed our fifth ride of the designated trails yesterday riding the 10.0 mile segment of the Bike & Hike Trail from Silver Springs Park & Campground north to SR 303.  The paved section was also enjoyed by other cyclists, joggers and strollers. We hadn’t ridden this section of the trail for awhile and had a chance to enjoy the pedestrian tunnel, and the new approach to the trailhead at SR 303. The SR 303 trailhead has one of  the bike repair stations.

Do you have a favorite bike path or trail, have you found a new place to ride this season?
