This past summer you may have seen the flag outside at Howe House and the red bikes at the bike rack. Bike sharing began last summer at the Richard Howe House in downtown Akron, the home office of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition. The bicycle share was offered as a pilot project in partnership with Summit Cycling Center, and was one of many bicycle shares and rentals throughout the city. The program operated at the Richard Howe House Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m, with the bicycles borrowed for free with a photo ID and waiver signed. The Akron program is in coordination with the Summit Cycling Center, and plans on returning this year.
Now, picture the ability to borrow a bike in Barberton for use throughout the day.
Stay tuned for further news regarding bicycle sharing coming to Barberton.
