Park Your Car
by Ruth Kaser

Are you disturbed about the cost of gas? Maybe you are concerned about the environmental effect of using your car. You would like to ride your bike on the Towpath or to do some errands however it is just too far to do so from your home.

Did you know that on several of the Akron Metro RTA bus routes the busses are equipped with bike racks? The racks carry two bicycles. You can ride, for example, from Barberton to downtown Akron and hop on the Towpath trail. You can get back on the bus and ride to Cuyahoga Valley to experience that part of the trail.

If you are a student you can use the bus/bike combination to get to school and around campus to your classes.

Metro has instructions on how to mount your bike on the bus rack on their web site. The link below is to the Akron Metro web site. You will need to scroll down the page and click on the picture of the bike. Then scroll down the page for mounting instructions as well as the map of the routes with racks and the location of area parks and trails on the routes: http://www.akronmetro.org/index4.html"
