A riding goal and a worthy cause

by Ruth Kaser for Towpath News

The temperature reads 33 degrees, however the sun is out. Some have started their training for a longer rider this season-like the 2018 Huntington Towpath Century Ride. This popular pledge ride sells out each year- early. At this point only 16 spots remain available. This fully supported ride is on and is for the TowPath Trail.  All of the proceeds benefit the continued development, enhancement and maintenance of the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and Connector Trails. Your support enables us to complete the Towpath Trail by 2020.

If you are not able to ride you can support a rider, or make a donation http://towpathcentury.dojiggy.com/ng/index.cfm/a91c4aa/regPages/pages/?p=167057

From the ride website page:”The Huntington Towpath Century Ride, June 9 and 10 2018, is a fully-supported 101 mile ride on the historic Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail that celebrates this regional trail and promotes the development of connector trails for the regional trail system. Riders can chose from a 1-day or 2-day ride and can participate as individuals or teams on well-maintained bicycle trails and some on-road sections. The ride starts on the banks of the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland, and travels through the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park, downtown Akron, and historic canal towns of Canal Fulton and Bolivar, concluding at the southern end of the trail in New Philadelphia.”More information can be found at the ride website

Once again, R-D Bike Shop will volunteer at the Snyder Avenue/Wolf Creek Trail Head water-stop, so stop on by at the water stop to say hello on Saturday, June 9th.
