As reported in the Akron Beacon Journal on August 14. A new trail bridge over Interstate 271 in northern Summit County is open. The 300-foot bridge on the relocated Bike & Hike Trail in Northfield Center and Sagamore Hills townships was opened on Friday by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The bridge opening was announced at Tuesday’s meeting of the commissioners of Metro Parks, Serving Summit County. It marks the completion of a $2.6 million relocation that moves the trail off Brandywine Road. The bridge will have to close for a day or two in coming weeks to replace some fencing on the bridge, said Paul Wilkerson, the park district’s chief of planning and development.
